Eastern -VS- Western Diets

The difference between Eastern and Western diets is that the Western diets are mostly concerned with weight loss. Eastern diets are designed not only to help in this area but also to treat many other ailments including hypertension (high blood pressure), diabetes, common cold, gastritis (stomach ache), diarrhea, constipation, cough, hepatitis, psoriasis, common acne, eczema, sore throat, hemorrhoids, hiccuping, vomiting, fever, toothache and many others.

In Western diets foods are considered for their protein, carbohydrate, fats, calorie, vitamin and other nutrients while in Asian diets food are considered for their energies, flavors, movement and actions. For example, spinach can stop bleeding, peaches can stop excess sweating, pears can ease a sore throat, kumquats can relive cough, and apples can promote digestion and so on.

Good health is first and foremost to be found in foods. If one doesn’t know how to eat the right foods they can’t stay healthy.

  1. Eastern foods really can be a wonderful addition to the diet. They often provide new and interesting ways to cook foods, not to mention highly nutritious fruits and vegetables that may not have the bad associations as some vegetables do for people forced to eat them in youth. In addition, the spices, sauces and flavors of Easter foods often provide a welcome vivid novelty to change the routine of everyday eating. However, it’s important to not place more emphasis on these things than is truly warranted. By their definition, food plants aren’t very powerful medicinal plants. Medicine changes the body, and the more powerful the medicine, the more powerful the effect on the body. Food has to be eaten every day without producing a change when the body is healthy. As always, perspective is everything.

Food are eaten every day. Eastern perspectives are beyond nutrition , taste and novelty. Western Meds give what the body has stopped making and in doing this they directly make the problem worse. For example if you have a low thyroid output they give you thyroid hormone. Then the body thinks that that there is enough hormone and lowers the output of thyroid stimulating hormone so now it makes less. Then you need to increase the synthetic one even more until you are dependent on the medication. Asian medicine like huang qi has selenium in it (among others) which cleaves the T4 molecule into the active T3 plus other foods like seaweed have iodine that is used in the formation of T4 while others like soy, almonds, avocados, lima beans, pumpkin seeds, have tyrosine, the other main component or T4.
