2. What we collect

We collect very little, and only what running this website actually requires.

• Newsletter: your email address, through our signup form with double opt-in confirmation. Handled by Kit, our email platform.
• Purchases: your name, email, and transaction records, through Podia. Card details go directly to Stripe. We never receive or store them.
• Technical data: standard server logs and security metrics from our host and Cloudflare (IP address, browser type, pages requested).
• Correspondence: whatever you choose to send us at [email protected] or [email protected].

3. What we do with it

We use your data to send the letters you asked for, deliver the training you bought, answer what you ask, keep the site secure, and meet our tax and legal obligations. That is the whole list. We do not sell or rent your personal information, we do not share it with cross-context behavioral advertising networks, and we do not profile you or make automated decisions about you.

One thing to know about the newsletter. Kit, the newsletter platform that we use, runs a recommendation network, so after you subscribe it may show you other newsletters alongside ours. None of your information is shared as long as a recommendation is only displayed. But keep in mind that if you accept one, Kit passes your email address to that creator so they can add you to their list, and their privacy policy governs from that point on. The choice is always yours.

4. Legal basis for holding this information

Your email address: because you asked for the letters, and you can withdraw that at any time using the unsubscribe link in every email (consent). Purchase details: because we cannot deliver what you bought without them (contract). Correspondence: because you wrote to us and expect an answer (legitimate interest). Server and security data: because a website cannot run safely without it (legitimate interest).

Where we rely on legitimate interest, we have weighed it against your rights and consider it does not override them, given how little data is involved and that we only ever hold what you send us. You can object to that processing at any time.

5. Who processes it for us

Kit (email), Podia (training delivery and checkout), Stripe (payments), Cloudflare (DNS, security, and email routing), and our web host. Each is bound by terms that limit them to providing those services on our instructions.

6. Cookies

We set no advertising or tracking cookies. Strictly necessary functional cookies may be set by Cloudflare and by Podia's checkout so that the site and the payment process work. If we ever introduce cookies that are not strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent first, as the law requires.

7. How long we keep it

• Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
• Purchase records: up to seven years, to satisfy US tax, accounting, and legal requirements.
• Correspondence: for as long as it stays useful to us as a record, up to three years, and longer where a legal obligation or a possible claim requires it.
• Security logs: these are held by our host and by Cloudflare, and are kept for a limited period, typically no more than 90 days, unless they are needed for an active incident investigation or a legal obligation.

8. Security

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including restricted administrative access.

9. Your rights

You have rights over the personal data we hold:

• Access, correction, and erasure: ask for a copy of your data, have errors corrected, or have it deleted.
• Portability and restriction: ask for a machine-readable copy, or ask us to pause processing.
• Object and withdraw consent: object to processing based on legitimate interest, or withdraw consent at any time. Every letter carries a one-click unsubscribe.
• No sale, no targeted advertising: we do not sell or share personal data for targeted advertising, and we do not profile.
• Non-discrimination: exercising these rights never changes your price or your access.

To exercise any of them, write to [email protected]. We respond within thirty days and may need to confirm your identity first.

10. Where your data is held

Black Moccasins LLC is a United States company, and our servers and processors are here. If you are in the EU or the UK, you are dealing with a US business directly rather than with a European entity that then sends your data abroad, so your data is held in the United States from the moment you give it to us. European and UK data protection law still governs what we do with it, and the rights in Section 9 apply to you wherever you live. Where our processors move data between countries in the course of their own operations, they do so under the transfer mechanisms set out in their agreements with us.

11. Enquiries from the EU and UK

If you are in the EU or the UK, you can send any question, rights request, or regulatory correspondence to [email protected], or by post to the address in Section 1. Supervisory authorities may reach us the same way.

12. If there is a data breach

We maintain incident response procedures. If a personal data breach happens that is likely to put your rights and freedoms at risk, we will notify affected users and the relevant supervisory authority within the timeframes the law requires.

13. Links to other sites

Our site and our emails may link to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of anything we link to.

14. Children

The site and the training are directed to adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.
